I know, I know--I haven't been blogging much. I've been busy trying to get the HARRA Just For Kids Fun Run (November 29th, 2008--BE THERE!!) off the ground, among other things.
But I've been running. And swimming. And, just recently, biking. So you know what that means....
It's time to Tri!
A few months ago, about the time I started swimming a bit for cross-training, I got it in my head that a triathlon might be fun. So I tried to register for a very small, short triathlon called "The Stef," but it was full, so I put my name on the waiting list and moved on. I also registered for Tri Andy's Tri in October, and figured that would be my first. But I continued to run far more frequently than I did anything else. Logistically it's easier, and frankly, it's my comfort zone.
Then, last weekend, I got an email from the RD saying that some spots had opened up and that we should email back if we were interested. Apparently I got back to him quickly enough because...I'm in! And it's on Sunday! This Sunday!
But I haven't really been biking, though I did go to a spin class taught by a friend of mine yesterday, and she crushed me... :). And I haven't done any bricks. And I only swim ~2x/week.
It's a short tri, though--200m pool swim, 6 mile bike, 2 mile run. Very good for a rookie like me to give it a shot. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm looking forward to finding out what it's all about.
Don't worry--this blog isn't in any danger of turning into H-town Triathlete anytime soon. I'm still a runner...
